Plant Sourcing Standards
Small is Everything to Us
We believe in the power of small. That’s why we carefully select plants from small- to medium-sized farms that are committed to ethical growing practices. By collaborating with these farmers to predict growing seasons and meet the needs of our farm-to-table supporters, we create greater stability for our growing partners while ensuring you receive the freshest, highest-quality plants from your local area.
Locally Based for Fresher Plants
Unlike garden centers that source plants from brokers located 1,500 to 3,000 miles away, we keep things local. Our greenhouses are located within 150 miles or less from the growers, drastically reducing pollution, plant waste, and transit damage. Shorter distances mean your plants spend less time in transit and arrive at your doorstep healthier and more vibrant.
Supporting Small Farms and Family-Owned Growers
We proudly distribute plants grown by smaller, family-owned farms—the very people who helped build the foliage industry in the 1950s and 1960s. By working with them directly, we’re helping to preserve their legacy while fostering sustainable growth in the modern plant market.
Know Where Your Plants Come From
We value transparency and traceability. Visit any of our greenhouses, and we can tell you exactly who grew your plant and share their story. You can also explore our Growers Page online to learn about the dedicated farmers behind your plants.
Doubling Farmer Payments
Our farmers earn twice as much working with us compared to selling to large retail chains. How do we do it? By sourcing directly from local farmers and cutting out middlemen, packaging costs, and subscription fees, we ensure that more money goes into the hands of the growers who deserve it most.
High Standards for Every Plant
No matter where your plant comes from, you can trust that it was grown with care and attention to detail. We hold all our growers to high ethical and quality standards, giving you access to the best plants from small farms across America.
By supporting us, you’re supporting sustainable farming, ethical practices, and the hardworking growers who help bring nature into your home.
